Privacy policy.
Way To Store Self Storage follows British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act. This page explains in plain language what we collect, why, and what you can ask of us. Last updated 21 September 2026.
Who is responsible
Our privacy officer is the General Manager of Way To Store Self Storage. You can reach the privacy officer at 250-443-0560, at info@waytostore.ca, or by mail at 136 Sagamore Road, Grand Forks, BC V0H 1H4.
What we collect, and why
When you rent a locker or a compound space we collect your name, mailing address, phone number and email address, a description of what you are storing where that matters (for example the length and licence plate of an RV), and a record of your payments. We collect it to set up and manage your rental, to bill you, to reach you about your unit or in an emergency, and to meet our legal and accounting obligations. We tell you these purposes when you sign the rental agreement, and we collect only what those purposes need.
If you phone or email us with a question, we keep your contact details only as long as we need them to answer you.
Consent
We collect, use and share your personal information with your consent, which you give when you sign the rental agreement or contact us, or as the law otherwise permits or requires. You can withdraw consent with reasonable notice, although that may mean we can no longer provide the rental.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers who need it to do work for us, such as our accounting and payment providers, and where the law requires or allows it, for example to collect unpaid rent or to enforce the rental agreement. Some of our providers store data outside Canada.
How long we keep it
We keep rental and payment records for as long as the rental lasts and afterwards for as long as tax and other laws require. If we use your information to make a decision that affects you, we keep it for at least one year so you have a chance to see it. After that we destroy it securely.
How we protect it
Paper agreements are kept in a locked office. Electronic records are kept in password-protected systems that only staff who need them can use. If a breach ever put you at real risk of significant harm, we would tell you.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask how we have used it and who we have shared it with, and ask us to correct it. Write to the privacy officer. We respond within 30 business days, the time limit the Act sets, and we will tell you if we need an extension the Act allows.
